Cause I bought Seasons 1 and 2 after Funimations fuckup.
But unfortunately Madman goofed up when they printed the blu rays and there was this god awful stuttering on throughout the episode.
And subtitle desync too.
It was somewhat amusing,especially at the end but the stuttering kinda ruined it for me.

They uploaded Revolution a few weeks/months ago but not S1.
I guess when I saw it cheap on TradeMe I should have bought it rather than passing it up because Revolution was only released in America.

I don't like this new Urusei Yatsura.
The opening and ending from part 1 are a far cry from the original.
The animation, while fluid for the most part, is rather jarring to look at.
Lum's hair colour is incredibly distracting, and several of the characters don't have the same hair colour they had in the original.
The episodes themselves, despite being faithfully (I think?) from the manga, feel very rushed and sloppy with less character introduction than the original series.
The visual sound effects are insanely irritating, especially when huge bubble letters pop up and take over the entire screen, they aren't funny in the slightest.
My favourite episode from the original series was adapted into the new series but they butchered it.
And the sound effects are super duper exaggerated and obnoxious.
Like when Ran sucks the life out of people, it sounds like a fat guy trying to get the last drops of fizzy out of a giant cup with a huge straw.
I guess it would be fine for people who haven't seen it before and like silly over the top comedies with giant bubble letters.
But I guess the reason why I'm struggling to enjoy it is because I liked the original.
Kinda the same with the Orphen and Higurashi remakes.
I think I've only enjoyed the Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Bladeworks remake and the Rebuild of Evangelion as far as remakes go.

I honestly don't get why they choose to remake these sorts of shows.
I wish they would remake shows that needed a remake rather than ones that were fine the way they are.
I'm holding out that with the re-release of the Tsukihime VN that Ufotable decides to redo the series.
Or Haganai gets a third season.

The obvious answer is money, but they see it as a second chance to re-adapt the source material because let's be honest, a lot of old classics weren't faithful adaptations and these remakes are targeted to those crowds who wants more accurate representations of the source material.

But majority of these remakes for lack of a better word lack the soul of the original adaptations. From the change of guards, the lesser animation quality, to rehiring older actors who no longer fit their original roles and can't give the same energetic performance of 30 years ago and the result is a shallow product with one thing backing it up.
