Well, now we have an actual fight. Taran-ouji pulls out his Shock Jockey for all its worth, and - miracles! - actually comes up with a proper insult. But Suzokon-kyō is having far too good a time to get riled. He's outgunned, but Taran's completely outclassed. This fight, I think, is going to last precisely as long as Suzokon-kyō wants it to.
It's ON.
( Note that Suzocon is outside the shield. How is he keeping Taran from overloading his mana batteries? By leaving the shield's protection and engaging Prince Manuke in honorable combat! )

This is the most fun either of them have had in months. It's not often that gods get to spar. Cooped up in their domiciles, waiting for the chance to unleash divine fury. Yes! This is the time! Pew pew pew!
The terrain wonders what it did to deserve this. In the wrong place at the wrong time, perhaps.

Technically they're both demigods, a distinction with an important difference. They're evenly matched, and Suzocon's leading Taran-manuke around by the nose ring. Suzocon wants to become a god, by gaining his ninth tail, but he's not there yet. Which is why Taran reminds him he's an eight-tailed kitsune.
But Vetra-jou is a whole other beast. She is an actual deity, and if she joins the fight, Suzocon's going to have his paws full. Which is why he's trying so hard, I think, to charge his stolen Eyestone.

Their strategy has always been the same since this mess started: Get Roko, get the marine transformation amulets, and GET. OUT. Because if Vetra-jou does show up she's going to burn the shrine to the ground, and take their only hope of escape with her. Taran can't penetrate the shrine defenses. She probably can. Clock is ticking!
Some mood music: https://youtu.be/cc6ymS4NGxg?si=oLWNnEFaT9TA9s6i (As Old School as Suzocon, and to an old silvermuzzle like me, ever bit as cool)
Rescuing ROko, if it's happening in this arc, it's happening now. Otherwise, I still would prefer seeing a reason for them to actually try to finmd a way to matter in these fights. FOr a long time, they've been FAR too weak to fight their foes. As I said earlier, the only reason they managed to beat the forest guardian, was because the moss-or-brains killed himself through oversaturation. If he'd been smart enough to escape before he was weakened, he would have killed themn, EASILY.
